The Official Festival Wines
“In Grafenegg, we present our visitors with a true symphony of the
senses, thanks to the unique symbiosis of culture, architecture, history,
nature and the culinary arts,” says Paul Gessl, managing director of the
Grafenegg Kulturbetriebsgesellschaft. “The 'Wein-Edition Grafenegg' fits in
perfectly with our programme and demonstrates the obvious connection
between art and wine culture. The wines are available in Toni Mörwald´s
Schlosstaverne and served also at all artist dinners, receptions,
exhibitions and cocktails. Thus we're contributing to the national and
international dissemination of wine culture. With the Traditionsweingüter,
we've gained a reliable partner for this initiative.”
Reviving the Tradition
The Verein der ÖSTERREICHISCHEN TRADITIONSWEINGÜTER – the Association of
Austrian Traditional Wine Estates - comprises 23 member wineries and
(most recently) cooperations with three wine estates, all of which stand
for the identification, classification and promotion of the best vineyard
sites in the Danube valley. Michael Moosbrugger, chairman of the
Association, says that “Grafenegg has always been the center of culture
and enjoyment in the region. And it is a natural continuation of the
tradition to offer a selection of region-typical wines at official events and in
the shop.”
Die Ersten Lagen 2010 to be Launched on August 20th
The cooperation between the Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW) and Grafenegg
will be celebrated with a spectacular event on Saturday, August 20th.
Beginning at 4 p.m., the 23 Traditionsweingüter and the three cooperating
wineries (Allram, Eichinger and Proidl) will present their Erste Lagen
(Premier Cru) wines from the 2010 vintage along with the five wines of
the 'Wein-Edition Grafenegg' in the Sattelkammer (tack room) at
Grafenegg. In the concert hall auditorium, the star pianist and Grafenegg's
artistic director, Rudolf Buchbinder, will give a concert at 7:15 p.m. (sold
out).
Grafenegg
Schloss Grafenegg, a magnificent castle near Krems in Niederösterreich
(Lower Austria), is also widely known as a cultural center that provides
through its “Musik-Sommer” and “Musik-Festival Grafenegg” programmes
a brilliant stage for stars from all over the world. Managing Director Paul
Gessl has long known that culture and enjoyment have a natural
relationship, which is why he is developing the castle - built in the
Romantic Historicism style – and its 32-hectare castle park, along with the
two stages, the Wolkenturm and Auditorium, into a paradise of culinary
delight. Everything from dinners in the glorious halls and the
Schlosstaverne to picnics in the meadows around the castle to a visit to
the Vinothegg offer pure sensory pleasure.
